Volunteer Welfare History

CLUB INFORMATION - VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers are the lifeblood of any club and our club is no different. The club would be unable to function without them and to provide the players with the best experiences, it is vital that we recruit and assist as many volunteers to the best of our ability.

We have now created an organisational chart displaying a range of roles that each have a detailed job description. Some roles are technical, some not and we have endeavoured to create the roles to divide commitment so that each role is not overburdening - we believe there is something there for everyone.

We do ask that if you commit to a role you undertake it at least for the season (September-August) and you are self motivated. Please don't sit back and wait to be asked, we need people to help.

COACHING

coaches are always needed to participate during Leisure Centre sessions, club sessions and during our league/ regional commitments. We encourage our juniors (over the age of 15) to become involved as well as parents or players. Anyone over the age of 16 can gain the ASA/UKCC Level 1 qualification*. We will then help you with mentoring to help you help us. For more advanced coaches, a ASA/UKCC Level 2 & 3 qualifications* are also available. *subsidies are available

REFEREEING anyone over the age of 16 can take a refereeing qualification. We welcome any players and parents interested as we have a range of Junior and Senior matches we have to provide a referee for every season. Our Key Stage matches provide an ideal learning ground for new referees and we will support you. Grade D Refereeing courses are held within Dorset.

TABLE OFFICIALS - the simplest of the technical roles, we have to provide two table officials for each home match and occassionally tournaments we participate in. The table officials simply log statistics as they occur during a match onto a match sheet and change the scoreboard. A qualification is available.

The scoresheet needs to be entered onto the Dorset League website and a Press Report needs to be gathered and submitted to the newspapers for each match. We need to find out which potential summer dates have a tide above 3.5m, liaise with the harbourmaster and WDDC, providing an up to date risk assessment/ method statement, club insurance details, and apply for street collection permits. The dates also need advertising in the local press, and on noticeboards.
