CLUB INFORMATION - WELFARE

Aim of the Policy

Our aim is to create an environment in which the young member (child) and their parent(s), guardian, responsible adult, carer, closest relative, can feel confident that the Bridport Barracudas Swimming Club (BBSC) is providing a safe and wholesome setting for all participants in our activities.
All suspicions and allegations of abuse against members under 18 years of age will be responded to, and followed up appropriately in accordance with this policy and the Policy guidelines and procedures published by the BBSC's governing body – the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).

Policy
The BBSC have adopted the Child Protection in Swimming Procedures and Guidelines published by the ASA.

Contact

If you have concerns about the welfare of a child, please remember it is not your responsibility to decide whether a child is being abused. The BBSC would encourage you to make a detailed note of what you have seen or heard, and not to delay in passing on the information.

Please pass on your concerns by either;

• Informing the club Welfare Officer.
or
• Ring Swim Line on 0808 100 4001. Swim Line is the ASA's own Helpline where you can talk to someone who understands both swimming and the requirements of child protection.
or
• Ring NSPCC Child Protection Helpline on 0808 800 5000 (open 24 hours a day and calls are free).
or
• Contact your local Social Services Department.
or
• Contact the Police.
